UCSD selects Palestinian Community Leader in Residence

The ethnic studies department at UC San Diego has created a Palestinian Community Leader in Residence Program.

It’s the first of its kind in the University of California system.

The goal is to build relationships between UCSD and the local Palestinian American community.

The leader in residence is Ramah Awad. She is director of Majdal, also known as the Arab Community Center of San Diego.

Her new role will start at UCSD in the fall. She will be giving three talks throughout the year to increase education and awareness for Palestinian rights.

On Midday Edition Wednesday, we sat down with Awad to discuss her new role.
